The surgery was founded in 1965 by Dr Jan Newell Price. The first building was a basic wooden construction in Basingbourne Road which was at that time an unmade road.

By 1980 the practice patient population had grown considerably. In 1985 the practice moved to its present premises, a purpose built building behind the Linkway Parade providing GP services to 7500 patients.

With the continued growth in patient numbers (14460 in May 2021), the building and site have become too small to accommodate comfortably not only this growth and ultimately increased demand, but additional services, new clinics, clinicians and the inevitable staff required to cover this. The Partners regularly look at ways to increase capacity and to improve the surgery building.  In 2015 we successfully obtained some funding to help with the overall total cost of creating a new entrance to the surgery with automated doors, together with push button opening doors through to our consultation and clinical rooms. In 2016 we again secured some funding to assist with the overall cost of replacing the original, old wooden windows and rear access doors with new uPVC making the premises not only more energy efficient, but modern.  We have also replaced the original fascias, soffitts and gutters to improve the surgery further.  Internally there have been smaller renovation projects including the replacement of our small, but extremely old staff kitchenette.  In May 2021 we undertook some internal reconfiguration works to create an additional Nurse Treatment Room which involved the moving of our kitchenette to a new site and adjustments to our reception back of house.  We continue to look at ways to increase capacity and offer additional services, to improve the premises further and will endeaviour to obtain further funding to assist us in successfully achieving this.
